My name is Jay Buchanan; I am a Landscape Artist.

I create painterly art with my camera that is reminiscent of the Romantic Movement paintings and Impressionism. 

Using long exposures and ambient light, I gently move the camera to paint each scene—rendering textures, color, form and feeling with intentional motion, much like brushstrokes.

What Makes My Work Unique

• In-Camera Impressionism: Every image is created in-camera using long exposures and intentional movement. 

• Painterly Emotion: Inspired by brushwork from the Old Master's. I aim to evoke emotion through light, blur, atmosphere and texture—like painters once did with oils.

• Nature as Muse: I don’t document landscapes—I interpret them, by utilizing trees, water and skies as materials to craft imagery in visual poetry.
